Freedom in Art

“Everything is perfect when you create from your heart…”
— Ssusan’s Rule 101

This quote became the foundation of my art class instruction. As many of us strive for perfection in what we do, I sometimes question, “What is perfection?” In other words, nothing is perfect, yet everything is perfect when we stretch to dream and create from our hearts.

After years of studying, practicing and teaching art, I have learned that nothing really ever turns out the way we think it will. It often is greater than you imagined, if you allow yourself to be free in expressing your thoughts through your art.

Art teaches us to enjoy and experience the journey of the unknown.
Art teaches us that what we see may be different from what we hear and smell and experience.
Art opens our soul to be more aware of our surroundings and to live with an open heart through this journey of life.

”Art is not what you see but what you make others see.”
— Edgar Degas

Art gives you freedom to express your true self and stretches your imagination to fill your soul with  peace. Art is in everything: cooking, baking, gardening, design, writing, drawing, painting, sewing, reading, playing, walking, running. And, all of these arts are FREEDOM.

“I dream my painting and then I paint my dream.”
— Vincent Van Gogh
