March is Freedom

Trusting during uncertain times can be strenuous. The truth is, something is “always going on.” When I look at the seasons for guidance, March is the month that reminds me that freedom and joy is right around the corner.

While the garden has been in slumber for months, there is always activity out of sight and very, very soon — all of the energy and growth is going to just burst through — much like it does in our lives. We eagerly anticipate the positive change of spring.

We must search for that glimmer of spring within ourselves, just like the outcropping of purple flowers that blooms early on a steep and rocky cliffside. Newness is coming.

In the winter months, our souls come inward for shelter. In the spring, we are released out to bask in the sun; to feel a renewed sense of peace and hope. It’s what we’ve been waiting for.

When you welcome in the day tomorrow, smell the freedom of spring in the fresh cool air. There may be savory hints of hickory left over from the fire the night before, but there is a new fragrance that clings to the mist. It’s not long now.

On my walks this month, I will be enjoying the surprises that nature offers to my senses. From the sightings of the first greens and the buds to the fragrance of rosemary and the sea grasses. I’ll listen for the melodies of freedom as the creatures awaken with the warmth — the voices of the birds, the harp of the crickets, and the baritone of the seals and whales. The chorus of new life is there and it nourishes us all.

He has made everything beautiful in its time.”

Ecclesiastes 3:11-12
