A new dawn

As another day opens to a new season, I know many of us have spent the last several weeks finding ways to  create joy. I’ve heard from many of you and know that we have all found similar new adventures through decluttering our homes, cleaning out closets, repurposing items and pruning the garden.

Like so many of you, I have found that I was able to feel accomplishment in these simple day-to-day tasks.  I often started my day with excitement as I visited my “honey do” list, mapping out the path to conquer the day’s duties.

When times are uncertain, finding ways to create a joyous journey through the moments of each day, means opening our hearts to the beauty around us, and welcoming in the good news.

For many, we are incorporating prayer into our day, reading the word of the bible and inspirational writings, and calling a friend or family member just to say hello and to share love and encouragement.

I believe this season was intended for us to look inward, find reconciliation with some of the pains and hurts that may be deeply rooted in our hearts, to take advantage of some of the quiet moments of solstice, and to reflect upon what is important to our lives — then heal the pains of the past, once and for all, from this most recent uncertainty.

I know we will never pass this way again. However, I believe for many who have chosen to plow some and look deeper into their hearts and souls, they have found that they are not alone.  God is with us always and there are so many great things ahead for all of us. One way to welcome in that new, fresh look of hope is to begin with a simple thank you — a simple thought of one thing, maybe two things, that you are grateful for in your life: waking up, a good night’s sleep, water, food , air to breathe, family, friends…etc…etc…

Start there.

I think that, as we all welcome in this new season of doors opening around our nation and world, we can also welcome a season of rejuvenation of the soul to hope. Seize the opportunity to create a new joyous season, to believe in and live your dreams. Grab your journal or paper, colored pencils, pens and crayons and clear out your old thoughts of this past season, and write your dreams, your new ideas, what you’ve learned and how you want to change things.

You see my friends, whether we realize it or not, we are woven together through this uncertain season and I believe we are being called to embrace the courage that we are discovering during this time and to know there is hope ahead for us to live our dreams through our hearts.

I invite you to open the doors to a new season of rejuvenation and hope.
