Planted on God’s Word
When we grow our Gardens of Life in God’s love, we are reminded that He has planted our lives with promises and He, too, watches as a bounty of blessings blooms.
Summer is here. The garden is overflowing with flowers and fresh fragrances – it’s like walking into a perfumery!
This is the busiest time of year for those who work in the garden. With the warmer weather and longer days of sunlight, one can easily spend several hours every day in the garden -- pruning, trimming, spraying, feeding and caring for the beautiful creations from God.
One’s love for gardening is a calling. When we walk through the various seasons we develop an understanding each season and the different types of care required. The summer season, for example, brings unwanted insects and bugs. Extra care must be taken to protect the plants to withstand the outside influences and grow with strength.
After an early morning Bible Study in the book of 1 Corinthians, I felt a calling to embark early on my summer gardening chores to beat the heat. As I worked through my mental checklist of things that needed to be done, my thoughts were guided back to my morning study and to Paul’s words of encouragement in 1 Corinthians, Chapter 3.
And though we may plant our gardens or build our futures, it is God who cultivates them and brings supernatural growth in our lives – just as He does in everything He has created.
I planted the church, and Apollos came and cared for it, but it was God who caused it to grow. This means the one who plants is not anybody special, nor the one who waters, for God is the one who brings the supernatural growth.
Now, the one who plants and the one who waters are equally important and on the same team, but each will be rewarded for his own work. We are coworkers with God and you are God’s cultivated garden, the house he is building.
1 Corinthians 3:7-9 (TPT)
Let us walk with God this season. Know that He is planted in our Hearts.
As the full sun of the day filled the garden with extra light and heat, I knew it was time to go inside to take a break until tomorrow morning. After I put my garden hat, shoes and tools away, I freshened up with a cool glass of water, and sat down for a few minutes to take a breath before starting some of my other activities. I turned to my bible to revisit the words of Paul, and my heart was led to read Psalms 1:1-3 :
What delight comes to the one who follows God’s ways!
He won’t walk in step with the wicked,
nor share the sinner’s way,
nor be found sitting in the scorner’s seat.
His passion is to remain true to the Word of “I AM,”
meditating day and night on the true revelation of light.
He will be standing firm like a flourishing tree
planted by God’s design,
deeply rooted by the brooks of bliss,
bearing fruit in every season of life.
He is never dry, never fainting, ever blessed, ever prosperous.
Psalms 1:1-3 (TPT)
Oh what a glorious way to start the day to reflect and refill one’s Garden of Life Planted with God’s words of hope and peace!
