Sheltering in God’s Love is our Triumphant Faith

I was awakened this morning by a soft drizzle and cool breeze. As I sipped on my tea in quiet meditation, I waited to hear God’s loving guidance. I started my morning reading then heard our Heavenly Father’s voice: “Shelter in my love.”

I spent time in a quiet prayer of thanksgiving. I opened my Bible and journal to begin thinking about how our Heavenly Father, Our God, is our shelter.  I found myself weaving through Bible verses from the Old and New Testament with a hunger to understand more about God’s word and why He put this message on my heart: “Shelter in my love.”

In my reference studies, I learned that the cultural/dictionary meaning of shelter is something that covers or affords protection. With a thirst for more, I began to read the Biblical references of shelter to learn, from several interpretations and translations, that our God is our refuge.

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1 (NIV)

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:2 (NIV)

I continued to journey through the beautifully penned Book of Psalms, richly filled with love and encouragement, that reminds us to live in God’s strength and courage. God gives us his insights through His word to grow our seeds of a faith-relationship with Him in order to harvest a fruitful heart.

I began to dig through the verses as though I was ploughing through one of my garden beds! Within, I hoped to discover an answer to the message that God put on my heart earlier that morning.

A great comfort of peace and a sense of contentment washed over me as my soul filled with a greater understanding for how God is our rock and our refuge of love and strength.

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:2 (NIV)

After reviewing my notes and quietly finishing my morning study, I realized that God answered, once again, the desires of my heart by letting me know that He is always with us.  I concluded my study in the Book of Isaiah, thanking God for the adventurous morning in His word that guided me to open my heart and to trust Him in all things.

In the study notes of Isaiah 28:27, it says God knows how fragile we are as “seeds of the kingdom”. He will “thresh” us, but only according to what is needed to lay bare our hearts and cause the seed to grow.

Let us walk into a harvest season of restoration and peace. Let us be free and fearless in our faith, knowing that our God, our Heavenly Father, is a refuge. Let’s embrace the feeling of peaceful contentment in knowing that God shelters us in His Love.

This forever-song I sing of the gentle love of God! Young and old alike will hear about your faithful, steadfast love—never failing! Psalm 89.1 (TPT)
