Shepherded to Safety and Peace
As I was preparing for a Giving Thanks Circle, I searched for God’s voice and guidance. His words always teach me to see from my heart with a greater vision. His unfailing, everlasting love creates understanding and trust inside all of us.
I often dance between the old and new testaments, searching for His voice to guide me through His plan and purpose for me at the beginning of each day.
Lately, however, I have felt as though my head was in a fog. Nothing out of the ordinary was causing this feeling, I just couldn’t focus enough to hear His voice.
Often, when I need time to clear my thoughts, I go outside, look up and ask in prayer for a refresh to my heart and soul; for clarity on what is being designed for me and for us by our Jehovah Rohi. I rejoice in thanking my Heavenly Father for His guidance, so I can be in His presence as I take a walk, go to the beach, or work in the garden.
During this last passage of study and renewal, I learned that our Lord, Jehovah, our Heavenly Father (Truth Revealer) has a desire for us to be close to Him and in His presence at all times so he can feed us and shepherd us to safe passages.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Psalms 23 1-3
Our Heavenly Father is a true shepherd who will seek those who are lost and bring them back, fortify the broken and strengthen the sick with his loving kindness. He is a shepherd of strength and gentleness—and even when He may be pruning the old branches of uncertainty in our lives, or softly walking with us to guide us through uncharted paths—he is there to get our attention and to hear His voice. Please know that our Heavenly Father is always a gentleman. His strength is always loving as he only wants the best for us. Even when we stumble, our Heavenly Father is always reaching His hand out to us, to lift us up in His love, to guide and encourage us as a caring shepherd would, towards the many good things ahead for us.
Then I will dwell among the Israelites and be their God. They will know that I am the Lord their God, who brought them out of Egypt so that I might dwell among them. I am the Lord their God. Exodus 29:45-46
His desire is to dwell with us. Here the word dwell in Hebrew is “shakan” which represents the glorious presence of God.
You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, you, Lord, know it completely. Psalms 139.1-4
I encourage all of us to open the doors of our hearts to God’s love. His guidance and His word will renew our souls. We do not have to look for huge, outward manifestations or miraculous signs to be renewed and refreshed in God’s love. All He asks from us is to feed on His word so he may lead us through all seasons in a continuous renewal of our hearts in love and joy.
Surely, your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalms 23: 6
Let your hearts be inspired with the Word from our Heavenly Father. You do not have to worry if you are in God’s will. He is your Jehovah, your shepherd. He has promised to lead you into all truth.
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Psalms 119.11
