Spring: A Time to Create Joy

My friend, Susan, gave me a book to inspire my daily creative walk, entitled 100 Days of Drawing by Jennifer Orkin Lewis.  After reading the first few pages, I gathered my favorite drawing pencils and pad to begin a new creative journey.  I left the book open as I began working.

I find that any creative outlet for us is a way to get lost in a space of time and engage one’s creative heart.  I also find that these creative moments take us down a path to stretch ourselves and take a leap of faith to truly express what is truly on our hearts.

After some time passed, I took a step back for a moment to refresh my tea and take a look at my drawing from another perspective.

God’s splendor is a tale that is told;
his testament is written in the stars.
Space itself speaks his story every day
through the marvels of the heavens.
His truth is on tour in the starry vault of the sky,
showing his skill in creation’s craftsmanship. Psalms 19.1 TPT

I held my teacup closely in my hands. I began to navigate through my thoughts then glanced outside at the winter garden.  As my eyes focused more on the light reflecting over the garden, I adjusted my vision to see the birth of the Spring garden beginning its transition from a long winter rest.  I quickly put down my cup, put on my hat, jacket and garden boots and went outside to begin my survey of the Spring Awakening.

My heart began to flutter with the excitement of seeing the start of our new season.   Spring, to me, is always a season that represents a “Fresh Start” or an “Awakening” of one’s soul from the needed rest of Winter.  It opens one soul to dream of new things; to look beyond the horizon with a hopeful perspective.  It is a season to adjust our visions to believe in the dreams on our hearts to create joy—and dreams to come true if we believe.

Create your dreams with God’s love.
Believe in your dreams.
From His Love, walk in a life of
Faith-driven freedom.

Before you do anything, put your trust totally in God and not in yourself. Then every plan you make will succeed. Proverbs 16: 3 TPT

Creativity encourages us to be bold! Later in the day, I remembered a picture from a magazine that I had pulled earlier in the week as a reference. I loved the bright pop of color in the flowers and I set out to to create something inspired. But there was something that surprised me in my watercolor. That blue sky! It’s not something I would normally do… but I felt encouraged. I can just feel the warmth of the sunshine in the spring garden, can’t you?

I believe God created us all to be creative.
As I always say, if we spell out the word HEART, HE, the spirit of God, is in our ART.

We are all being used to shine a light somewhere. I invite you to waken to your dreams:

Believe in your New Journey of Fun and Joy. Grab your favorite journal or writing pad and paper. Get your writing tool, pencils, color pencils, crayons and pens.
Write your dreams and ideas

Start by reflecting on these keywords:

Dream
Heart
Believe
Adventure
Love
Faith
Joy

We never know what our Heavenly Father has in store for us but, if we are willing to choose to walk in faith and to live the dreams that are etched on our hearts, we will live the greatest  adventure of unexpected miracles filled with joyous blessings of love from our Heavenly Father.

Take a chance to increase your walk in faith with God’s love.  Or as we may say today, take a “leap of faith” to pursue the promises that God gives to those who love him.

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalms 51:10 (NIV)
