Embrace a New Perspective from Your Heart
Welcome in a Harvest Season of Abundant Blessings
This time of year, as we begin to transition from the warm summer time to the cooler autumn days, I find my thoughts spinning with so many new ideas: Understanding and sharing God’s love; Reviving one’s soul; Rejuvenating one’s faith; Restoring one’s hope; Knowing and trusting that our Heavenly Father is with us always and that, yes, He is REAL.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV
How do we stay in the life-giving expression of God’s word throughout our day-to-day lives while preventing the shadow of distractions from invading the purity of our hearts?
Move your heart closer and closer to God and He will come even closer to you. James 4:8 (TPT)
Often when I find myself lost in thoughts, I go to a place to sit quietly and rest on God’s word and listen for his voice to guide me.
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10 NIV
Today, I went to my studio and sat in my favorite chair. With no noise or outside distractions, I opened my bible with my journal alongside me. In the quiet moments, I am reminded that God is calling us into a place of deeper intimacy with Him and, as we take time to “be still,” there are always greater levels of peace to be released upon us.
In the quiet of the moment, I began to feel a sense of peace from God’s loving presence in my heart. I started to pray, lifting my thoughts up to God to draw myself closer to Him in fellowship. The more I prayed to commune with our Heavenly Father, the more I found myself reciting bible verses that gave new life to my mind and heart.
“Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord. Jeremiah 29:12-14 (NIV)
I began to feel refreshed from God’s loving words as though a sense of revival and freedom was gifted to me through His grace. The earlier layers of thoughts cleared and I began to look at things in a fresh and new perspective.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12: 2 (NIV)
New thoughts and creative ideas began to wash over me. I leapt out of my chair, praising God for his enduring love and grace. I set my bible and journal down and decided to open my heart to a day of creativity. I tried a new muffin recipe using the figs from my garden. The sweet aroma of baking fruit and cinnamon flowed through my home and memories flooded in of the harvest season. While the muffins were baking, I set up my easel with a new canvas, pulled out my paints and brushes and put on my smock. I was ready to begin another creative adventure.
Before I started to paint, I looked up at the Heavens above and prayed to God, with a thankful heart, for his love and guidance for us in all the things we do. I prayed for God to open the eyes of my heart; to create in His love and light the beauty that He sees in everything that He has created in us and around us.
He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them skilled workers and designers. Exodus 35:35 (NIV)
A few hours later, after dancing through the artistic emotions of creating a piece art that reflected my heart, I sat with a cup of my favorite tea and one of my freshly baked fig muffins. My day ended where it began, sitting quietly with God in a prayer of thanksgiving and feeling comforted again in his everlasting love and peace.
I felt a tug on my heart as I was reminded for us to “Do everything in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14 (NIV)
When we do this, God’s love and light will give us peace and guide us through to live a life of joy through all seasons.
Because of you, I know the path of life, as I taste the fullness of joy in your presence. At your right side I experience divine pleasures forevermore! Psalm 16:11 (TPT)
