Noiseless Time

I knew it was Monday morning when I was awakened by the busy sounds of the city: trucks, cars, bikes, landscape equipment, and the voices of people passing by.

As I do every morning, I began with the ritual of a warm cup of tea and a piece of toast as I sat “cozied up” in my favorite chair. I kept the windows closed to mute the outside noises so that I could enjoy my study time reading and meditating on God’s word without distraction.

My meditation for the day was with author Miriam Rockness who describes the need for us to intentionally and deliberately invite God to be with us every day. I read about how she and a group of ladies met to discuss the writings of Lilias Trotter. Together, they talked about the importance of sharing Trotter’s inspirational writings of God and, as they studied her writings more, they began to ponder the ways in which God wanted them to share Lilias’ words with today’s world.  They asked themselves: How will God be using them for His purposes?

Ms. Rockness writes about arriving home from her travels after promising the other women she would find quiet time to spend with God. Instead, she found her days were full to the brim with family, community and work.  She began to realize just how fragmented her quiet time with God was because of the overwhelming distractions. She began whispering the words from a piece by Lilias: “An impulse of impatience, a sense of hurry or worry allowed to touch us, a mere movement of the self-life against His checking and He is gone, and our soul stands stripped and bare.  ‘Noiseless must be His Holy Habitation within us.’”

After reading these words, I looked at the clock. It was time for me to begin my daily activities. As I prepared to leave my quiet space, I opened the window and, as the noise of the city breezed in, the phone began to ring with urgency. I tucked away my books, and quietly told myself before answering the phone: Remember not to let the “noiseless” times escape my soul.

May we all take time to welcome in the quiet moments of prayer and peace—the “noiseless moments to allow His Holy Habitation within us.”

…Be Still and Know that I am God.  Psalm 46:10 (NIV)

Thoughts to Meditate Upon…Do you Hear God’s Calling for You…

God is Hope. He is our Everlasting Love and Life.

He invites us to open our Hearts to His Forever Love.

He encourages us to have Faith to walk.

He blesses us with His Kindness so that we know he may Trust Him.

He gives us His word to give us strength to believe in Him.

He hears all of our prayers and answers them with His promises.

All He asks from us is to love Him so we may feel His love for us even more.

This Restoration Season, I ask us All to be willing to open the eyes of our hearts more to see and hear the gracious life our Heavenly Father has for us every day:

A life of healing and hope filled with His Abundant Love and Blessings.

Our Father has called us to walk in His loving commands to live a life of everlasting hope.

Our faith guarantees us permanent access into this marvelous kindness that has given us a perfect relationship with God. What incredible joy bursts forth within us as we keep on celebrating our hope of experiencing God’s glory! Romans 5:2 (TPT)

Now may God, the fountain of hope, fill you to overflowing with uncontainable joy and perfect peace as you trust in him. And may the power of the Holy Spirit continually surround your life with his super-abundance until you radiate with hope!  Romans 15:13 (TPT)
